To my motherland, my birth place and my roots – a very Happy Independence Day to you.  Many have tried to tear you down, many have tried to ridicule you, many have tried to make you the world’s fool and still you stand strong. We’ve got a long way to go as whilst corrupt government officials stay in power, the poor still suffer. We have proven ourselves to be dishonest, which is why other nations don’t take us seriously. I mean let us be honest, we don’t even take ourselves seriously. How can a “pastor” be driving a Rolls Royce Phantom past a 7 year old street hawker who has probably not eaten in days? How can we continue to keep putting our faith Godless men and women, pretending to pray to an entity that only answers their selfish prayers? We give them money that we don’t have, and they build bigger and bigger houses. 33% of Nigerians still live below the poverty line. This is a western percentage as we Nigerians know the percentage is way more higher than that.  We need to wisen up, and wisen up quickly. We are meant to be a country built on democracy but instead I see at people being oppressed by the very people who are supposed to be helping them. Political corruption is a persistent phenomenon in Nigeria. Why are we not angry enough to do something about this?  Before any eagle eye person points put that I’ve lived in Britain for most of my life – yes I have. This does not mean that I do not feel the pain of the destitute hardworking Nigerians who live from hand to mouth. I’m allowed to have empathy for people who are being walked all over, by government “elected” to make things better. Us Nigerians are the first to get pissed off when we are compared to Ghana. As much as it pains me to say, The Ghanaians are doing it better right now. So many people flock there for their holiday’s and give Nigeria a swerve becuase they “don’t want  trouble” and “they want to be able to enjoy their holiday in peace”. I mean can you imagine?!
